SHOW AND TELL(RAM)

RAM (Random Access Memory) is a form of electronic memory used to store work data and running programs on a device. Its origin dates back to the late 1960s, when scientists Frederic Williams, Tom Kilburn and Geoff Tootill created the "Baby" supercomputer in the laboratory in Manchester, England.

RAM is the main memory of the device and has two main features

:
  1. Speed: RAM is much faster than other types of storage, such as hard drives or SSDs, allowing the computer to process information more efficiently.
  2. Temporality: RAM is a temporary memory, which means that the data stored in it is erased when the device is turned off.
The main function of RAM is to remember the data that the device is handling while it is being operated. The amount of RAM in a device determines how much information can be temporarily stored and quickly accessedRAM is used by applications in different ways, such as storing data from the web pages you visit in a browser. The amount of RAM in a device can vary, and depending on the specifications of the device, additional RAM modules can be installed to increase its capacity.
